While I’m Waiting for the iPad Mini…
For a product that won’t even hit consumers’ hands until Friday, the impending iPad Mini is stirring up a great deal of rhetoric, both pro and con. This hilarious parody of an Apple propaganda video produced by comedian John Elerick rings uncomfortably close to reality when you look at the iPad Mini’s specifications on paper. Unquestionably a portion of the criticism directed at any new Apple product release is simply underdogs taking pot-shots at the market leader. At the same time Apple has been known to drag their heels when innovating, choosing to utilize older and presumably safer technologies in their products which would explain the sluggish processor and lack of a Retina display in the Mini. No doubt these features will come in time, but look how long it took for Macs to get USB 3!
On the other side of the coin, the folks over at tech blog Engadget posted a review of the diminutive new iPad and for the most part quite liked it. As I mentioned in my last post, the full size iPad just didn’t cut it for me. Obviously millions of users worldwide found the regular iPad appealing enough to buy, but I found it too unwieldy for daily mobile use. After reading the Engadget review I’m relieved to hear that I’m not the only one that feels this way.
[UPDATE – Here’s a slightly less positive review from CNET]
Anyhow, I’ll find out one way or the other on Friday!
